Spherity is proud to have our CEO, Dr. Carsten Stöcker, re-elected as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at IDUnion European Cooperative Society (SCE) at the General Annual Meeting. The re-election is a continuation of our first journey with the IDUnion SCE in August 2022. The SCE consists of Christian Klugow and Markus Büch as Executive Directors, along with Dr. Carsten Stöcker’s fellow supervisory board members: Ronnie Schrumpf, Prof. Dr. Nils Urbach, Norbert Pohlmann, Markus Sabadello, Andreas Weiss, and Daniël Du Seuil. IDUnion SCE derives from diverse members, ranging from corporate, start-ups, and cybersecurity research, to European-wide projects such as Gaia-X Federation Services and European Blockchain Service Infrastructure (EBSI).
The General Annual Meeting has endorsed the establishment of two boards that will proceed with working on standards and support the set-up of the operational IDunion SCE identity network. The boards are:
- Legal & Compliance Board
- Architecture & Technology Innovation Board
IDunion, the consortium created as part of the “Secure Digital Identities Showcase” government-funded identity ecosystem project, has reached the next stage in building a productive, transnational ecosystem with the establishment of a European Cooperative Society with Limited Liability (Sociedad Cooperativa Europea, or SCE). With the transformation into the SCE, the infrastructure for verifiable digital evidence researched and developed in the funded project can now be implemented in operations.

The SCE will build and operate the necessary technical network, which enables the use of secure digital credentials by citizens, private sector organizations, and government institutions for a wide range of use cases. In addition, a key strategic objective for 2023 for IDUnion SCE is to establish a liaison for driving adoption together with adjacent ecosystems such as Gaia-X, Catena-X, EBSI, EUDI Wallet Consortium, and the Open Wallet Foundation.
