New York, NY, November 11, 2025Essentra Pharmacy, a trusted independent pharmacy serving the central Ohio community, has successfully acquired Spherity’s DSCSA Authorized Trading Partner (ATP) credentials well ahead of the FDA’s November 27, 2026 compliance deadline for small dispensers. This adoption strengthens Essentra’s ability to detect and prevent the dispensing of counterfeit or suspect medications while demonstrating the pharmacy’s strong commitment to patient safety, operational efficiency, and Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) compliance.

Essentra Pharmacy joins a growing number of trading partners—including community pharmacies and wholesale distributors—adopting automated Authorized Trading Partner (ATP) management through the Verification Router Service (VRS) network, adding an extra layer of security across the pharmaceutical supply chain.

With OCI-compliant Spherity credentials, Essentra Pharmacy can perform real-time product identifier verification and ATP status validation. By employing the RxScanPI.com DSCSA solution, which utilizes Spherity’s DSCSA credentials, the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can perform near instantaneous electronic product identifier verification.

The credential exchange between the pharmacy and the responding manufacturer automates mutual recognition as an authorized entity and tells the pharmacies that they can trust the electronic response they receive through their VRS. Spherity’s fully integrated compliance expert, Legisym, ensures ATP status stays current by continuously verifying trading partners across authorities like the FDA, DEA, and state boards—issuing credentials only to verified, compliant, and active trading entities.

“In Product Identifier Verifications, trust and timing are everything. You need to know that the other party is authorized—and you need that confirmation fast. Speed is essential when you’re directly serving patients. Getting started with Spherity was quick and hassle-free. We used our DEA Signing Certificate to get the credentials issued, and the entire process took just a few minutes,” said Dr. Jarrett Bauder, PharmD, pharmacist manager .

“Pharmacists manage the constant challenge of delivering quality patient care while running efficient, compliant operations. Adopting digital ATP credentials eases this burden by automating secure trading partner and product verifications—eliminating time-consuming manual checks,” said Dr. Christiane Wirrig, Customer Success Manager, Spherity.

ATP verification is a core requirement under the DSCSA, and digital credentials provide pharmacies of all sizes with a scalable way to stay compliant—while improving patient safety and operational efficiency. Essentra Pharmacy’s adoption shows how independent pharmacies can lead in securing the supply chain. Acting now—rather than waiting for the 2026 deadline—helps avoid disruptions and ensures long-term readiness.
