As AI-generated “slop” floods the internet, the web’s attention and reputation economy is collapsing under noise, bias, and manipulation. This article exposes how low-effort AI content, fake engagement, and deepfakes undermine trust — and why verifiable identity and provenance are the cure. It introduces a framework built on the European Business Wallet (EUBW), AI Service Passports (AISP), Test & Evaluation, Verification & Validation (TEVV), and Power of Attorney (PoA) to anchor accountability for both humans and AI agents. By combining cryptographic provenance (C2PA) with verifiable credentials, the paper outlines a path to restore digital trust and authenticity in an agent-flooded internet.
